We offer a diligently selected collection of Georgian wines, produced with Georgian traditional method of Qvevri winemaking. Wines represented below are made from native and very special Georgian grape varieties such as Saperavi, Rkatsiteli, Khikhvi and others. We collect high quality wines mostly from small Georgian boutique wineries, that produce limited amounts of bottles.
Why Georgian wines? – Because officially recognized as the birthplace of wine, Georgia has a rich tradition of winemaking that is over 8,000 years old. From about 4,000 varieties of grapevines known in the world, 525 are Georgian and about 30 varieties are used for winemaking.
We receive our wines from VINS KVEVRI, represented by seasoned wine professional Lasha Janjalashvili, who travels to different parts of Georgia every year and imports rarest wines, distinguished by quality to France.
All Qvevri wines are natural and do not contain artificial additives. Qvevri is the large clay vessel, without right-angles, used for the traditional Georgian winemaking method. This vinification technique involves placing ripe grapes with skins, stems and the lot in Qvevri and leaving to ferment for months. In Qvevri, wines naturally and chronologically undergo the chemical processes that require special equipment and additives in factory production. This very natural method gives wine complexity and structure, maintains freshness and deepens wine aromas.
For every wine admirer, we suggest trying Georgian varieties and discovering special Georgian wines distinguished with unique aromas and taste.
